about

Dornwald Records is back with this VV. AA. Compilation featuring artists from all over the world.

The sounds depicted in this variegated tracklist are representative of the shape of music on which the label will focus on in the future: eerie, emotional ambient soundscapes, but also gloomy and more heavily experimental approaches, in a really balanced combination of aggressiveness and calmness.

There’s also a first glimpse to more evocative/dungeon synth like proposals, a genre that the label always wanted to explore more deeply, and hopefully will.

The artwork is a picture taken on a path that leads to a medieval hermitage in the Ascoli Piceno’s province, which has natural arches of branches surrounding the passengers, giving the sensation of being somehow entangled by the entire forest. It is also a symbol of decadence and abandon, due to the fact that the mentioned hermitage has now been left in ruins by the human disregard for its jewels of the past.

Forest Of Thorns: A Dornwald Compilation features projects and artists from its own country, Italy, like Giovanni Leonardi, Valerio Orlandini, Pavor Nocturnus and Cameraoscura, representing the inner and more powerfull core of the tracklist with their industrial beats and analogue samplers.

On the other hand, the compilation also features projects from more exotic places like Chile (Humanfobia; com.sound.field), Australia (Northwind) or Mexico (Poetry Of Thorns), and more close countries like France (Hermith) Czech Republic (The Ummo) UK (CrAwE; nSanders), Ukraine (Anamnesis) or Poland (L’Egarement D’Esprit) and a really really special appearance by two projects of canadian artist Alexandre Julien (Citadel Swamp; Vision Eternel).

Dornwald Records returns from the ashes of its past with this communion of soundscapes that will shape its next future in the underground/experimental music scene.
